Plum Village’s Mountain Mindfulness Retreats in Andorra

Allow yourself to connect with the spirit and serenity of the majestic Pyrenees mountains during the Mountain Mindfulness retreats offered by Plum Village. Located in Andorra, the retreat will foster a space for you to incorporate the tenets of Buddhism and mindfulness into skiing, ski touring, or the more tranquil snowshoeing. Enjoy this opportunity to build sangha with the gentle guidance from the Plum Village monastics who will lead everyone in morning and evening meditations, dharma talks, and mindfulness contemplations.

Two retreats are available:

  1. Week of March 11 to March 17, 2024: skiing and mindfulness: you will have the opportunity to enjoy traditional downhill skiing with monastics. Prior ski (or snowboard) experience is required. Ski equipment rental will be included in the cost of the retreat.
  2. Week of March 18 to March 24, 2024: snowshoeing and ski touring: During this week you can choose to join ski touring or snowshoeing. Ski touring is an invitation for a mindful exploration of nature and sights that are off the regular slopes. As such, prior skiing or snowboarding experience is required. People who can go down with ease on any slope and feel fit enough to be mindfully going uphill will get the most out of this and really enjoy it. Specific equipment should be brought or we can arrange rentals including skis, boots, skins, avalanche transceiver, and shovel.

Accommodations include a clean and modern hostel that evokes a sense of community. Remember your bathing suit! The hostel’s stunning views and hot tub build a nurturing ambiance.

We are trying our best to approach every aspect of the retreat with mindfulness for Mother Earth. All meals, which are included in the cost, will be vegetarian or vegan. Please make sure to check any dietary restrictions upon registration. The food provisions are pre-planned by the restaurants to accommodate our group. We’d like to ensure that everyone’s dietary requirements are met. Participants are encouraged to carpool (See our Ridesharing Forum) or take the train and bus. Flying is not encouraged. However, if you must fly, we encourage you to take the opportunity to extend your stay by exploring nearby areas of France and Spain (and maybe even Plum Village!). No alcohol consumption is allowed during the retreat.  For more information, please make sure to check out our Practical Information Page and our FAQ Forum.
